Starting in finance

I came to university without a traditional academic background in finance, business or economics. Finance was a new direction for me, and I graduated from Bournemouth University with First Class Honours in BA (Hons) Finance. My dissertation, “Evaluating LLMs for Corporate Governance and Remuneration Analysis: Benchmark vs IVIS reports for UK-listed firms”, was where the finance and AI sides of my work first properly overlapped.

Discovering automation

During my placement at The Investment Association as a Finance Trainee, I started improving the finance and reporting processes around me with Excel, VBA, Power BI and automation. What began as making my own work faster turned into building tools other people on the team relied on.

Moving into AI systems

That work grew from small process improvements into AI, RPA, regulatory research, governance analysis and data extraction, consulting for the Corporate Governance and Market Insights teams at The Investment Association. I moved from automating individual tasks to designing entire systems.

Building CacheStack

I co-founded CacheStack with Billy Wassell to apply that approach more broadly: building AI tools, workflow automation, data platforms and custom software around the way businesses actually work, rather than forcing businesses into generic tools that don't fit.

Current direction

I now work across discovery, product design, development, client delivery and commercial strategy through CacheStack, while retaining a particular strength in finance, governance and data-heavy environments, a direct result of where this all started.
